Why Paris is the Perfect Destination for a Solo Trip

Paris is an amazing city for a solo traveller 🤓With its romantic charm, fascinating history, and world-renowned culinary scene, you will find the ideal combination of culture and adventure in the city of light. It’s a great place to explore on your own and get to know the city in an intimate way.

Any solo traveller can agree I think that there’s a charm in the convenience of navigating the city on your own schedule, without needing to worry about coordinating plans with others. And Paris is just perfect to enjoy these moments 🥰

From its iconic landmarks to its lesser-known hidden gems, Paris offers a variety of activities that can be tailored to your individual interests. Whether you’re looking for a new cultural experience or simply want to relax and enjoy the city, Paris is the perfect destination for a solo adventure 🚄

And as I’m a big fan of solo trips and big fan of Paris, I decided to go and explore it (again 🙃). I even went without any particular plan, just booked my train, found a hotel and after one week I was there 🤪

Btw, if you’re as spontaneous as I am, make sure to check out Omio [Affiliate Link]. They’ve got a great selection of different travel options, from trains to ferries 🤩, allowing you to compare and plan your journey in a matter of minutes! It’s honestly my go-to website when planning my trips, so I can only highly recommend 👍🏻

How to Spend Your First Day in the City of Light

Back to the main topic.

Once you’ve got a plan to go on a solo journey to Paris, it’s time to start thinking about what to do there when you’re on your own. And honestly, the beauty of it is that you can do exactly what you would do in a group! If it’s your first time, go visit Louvre, take a stroll baling the Champs-Élysées, or simply enjoy a leisurely lunch at a charming cafe.

But as it wasn’t my first time in Paris, I decided to focus on the places where I haven’t been, and things haven’t done so far there 😁

So, on the first day, I had a reservation for dinner at the Le Café Marly, an iconic cafe with an open-air arched passageway with Louvre views (I’m sure you’ve seen it on Instagram 😉). But let me talk about it later.

As I had to wake up quite early to catch my train from Frankfurt to Paris, I wanted to save myself to have enough energy until dinner, so after arriving I headed straight to the hotel to check in and leave my bags there. As it was already lunchtime (and honestly I was pretty hungry by then), after checking in I headed straight to the place I had planned for lunch 😁

Don’t know how many of you reading this blog also watched a Netflix series ‘Emily in Paris’, but every new season of the show inspires me to visit Paris again and again 😅 So, this time, I wanted to visit a restaurant at the location which everyone who saw ‘Emily’ would recognise immediately.

After that, it was time to kickstart my vacation by taking a leisurely stroll through the city. I wanted to get lost in the maze of Parisian streets, pop into art galleries and eateries, and have a coffee at a local cafe ☕️

After walking around the city it was time to go back to my hotel and change for dinner, which I was really excited about (and for a reason 🤭).

So, for dinner, I headed to Le Café Marly, one of the more unique experiences you could have in the main courtyard of the iconic Louvre Museum. Some could say it’s overrated, but I’d say it’s worth it. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a stunning atmosphere that provides visitors a truly memorable experience.

Le Café Marly has a long history dating back to the 18th century when it first opened its doors😍 The original interior was designed by renowned architect Richard Mones and his work is still evident today. Since then, the restaurant has been refurbished many times and now exudes a chic, modern atmosphere.

The food at Le Café Marly is just as memorable as the atmosphere🍷 The menu features French specialities as well as some international dishes. They offer a wide variety of both classic and contemporary dishes and boast a notable wine list. To top off your meal, their desserts are truly worth the splurge.

What makes this restaurant so special, though, is its location. As it sits in the main courtyard of the famous Louvre Museum, diners get the chance to enjoy their meal with a stunning backdrop. This can be especially magical if your meal is taken in the evening when the museum is lit up ✨

In my opinion, Le Café Marly is a must-visit restaurant for anyone visiting Paris. It provides an exceptional dining experience for every visitor, and its location at the iconic Louvre Museum makes it even more special. This is an amazing spot to enjoy an unforgettable meal and an even more unforgettable experience 😉

What to do With Your Second and Third Day

After spending your first day exploring the iconic landmarks of Paris, you may be wondering what to do on your second and third days. The city is full of hidden gems and offbeat places that are often overlooked by tourists. Whether you are looking for activities to do in Paris or want to document your solo female travel journey, there is something for everyone! From visiting secret gardens and exploring hidden alleyways to taking a boat ride along the Seine river – here are some great ideas for what to do with your second and third days in Paris.

One of my favourite things in Paris… is croissants 🥐 So, every morning I would go out of my hotel room to go to a local bakery and get a freshly baked croissant for breakfast. No matter how tired I was after walking the day before. And then having it with a cup of coffee on a balcony has its special charm as well, making the Paris experience even more special 😊

Another thing that I want to recommend you do when in Paris is to visit L’Atelier des Lumières, a truly unique cultural experience. This interactive art space is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike, providing a truly immersive experience unlike any other. Located in a former iron foundry, L’Atelier des Lumières is a living, breathing artwork. Using the latest projection technologies, large-scale artworks are projected onto the space’s walls, floors and ceilings, giving visitors a chance to walk right into the art and get lost in its beauty. The visuals are complemented by a custom soundscape, adding to the experience and making it different each time you visit. The immersive experience allows visitors to explore the masters’ iconic works as they come alive with vibrant colours and movement, giving them an entirely different perspective on the famous artworks. So, if you’re looking for a truly unique cultural experience in Paris, don’t miss out on a chance to visit the incredible L’Atelier des Lumières. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

And I think a cherry on top of your chic vacation in Paris would be La Galerie Dior. When you think of the world’s most iconic fashion houses, Dior is definitely at the top of the list. The brand has become almost synonymous with haute couture, and its products are coveted by some of the world’s most stylish and famous people. So, for fashion lovers everywhere, visiting La Galerie Dior in Paris is a must. Located just a few blocks from the famous Opera Garnier in the heart of Paris, La Galerie Dior is a museum dedicated to the brand’s history and its effects on fashion and art. Visitors can see a wide range of pieces from the brand’s earliest designs to its most recent. You’ll find dresses, hats, handbags, shoes, and other accessories displaying the iconic Dior style. Along with the stunning garments, you’ll find works of art adorned with the brand’s logo, along with photos, videos, and other historical materials. La Galerie Dior is a wonderful way to gain an understanding of this world-famous house of fashion in Paris.

Concluding my solo trip

Overall, travelling solo to Paris was a wonderful experience. From walking around the iconic monuments to exploring the bakeries in the neighbourhoods, I could immerse myself in the city and feel as if I truly belonged there. This trip has strengthened my self-confidence and given me a newfound appreciation for the beauty of the city and its people. I would highly recommend taking a solo trip to Paris to anyone looking to explore this beautiful city 💖
